The Children's Chorus
The chorus is open to students in grades 3--6. Students perform a wide variety of sacred and secular choral literature. Singers are instructed on vocal technique, rhythmic accuracy, and diction. It is the hope and desire of the Society to provide elementary-aged children the opportunity for choral singing in a supportive environment. The chorus is conducted by Anne Dorsey, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Moore County Choral Society. Ms. Dorsey taught public school choral music for 32 years before retiring in 2012.
Moore County Children’s Chorus Historical Posting...
A community children’s chorus, recently formed by the Moore County Choral Society and Conductor Anne Dorsey, is set and ready to perform its for the public. The young singers are very excited by the prospect of a new and exciting season.
The chorus is composed of students in grades 3 through 6 who perform a wide variety of sacred and secular literature. The goal of the group is educational in nature and gives a strong musical foundation to those involved. The children are getting legitimate musical training with instruction in vocal technique, rhythmic accuracy, and diction.
The chorus also will be doing a public service by using their talent to perform for others. “I am so glad and happy that this is a reality and I know my son, a 3rd grader, will benefit tremendously from this experience for the sake of the educational experience of the choral environment, which is very supportive in nature, and for the sake of public service to others” says Rob Hill, a parent.
If you are interested in getting your child involved with the group and for more pertinent information, feel free to contact Moore County Choral Society Conductor Anne Dorsey through the Choral Society’s website at www.moorecountychoralsociety.org.
